Jennifer CVPM, CVT
Jennifer Yurkon was raised on a dairy farm in Western, New York. Both of my parents had the opportunity to go to veterinary school but decided to have a family and raise us on the farm. This is where I was in heaven doing what I loved the most at this time in my life taking care of animals. As I have grown up I have changed the path slightly and went to veterinary technician school at SUNY Delhi. This is where I discovered I really liked being on a team helping heal hurt animals. Additionally, I had a real knack for leading the team. I have been in many leadership roles over my years in veterinary medicine. In my second job as a veterinary technician my boss saw much more of the leader in me then I realized. He left me in charge of training our team, flow of the hospital, inventory and growth of the hospital. These were big shoes to fill but I loved it. Within the past several years I have discovered more about me that I love being a leader of a dynamic team. My husband and my dream is to own and manage our veterinary hospital. I have decided I need to make my discovery and inspiration true. I finished my accomplishment of passing my Certified Veterinary Practice Manager's exam. At this point I am doing what I love, helping animals and helping people but with more options in helping people and building relationships which is with my team, my clients and others in the veterinary community. My husband is a graduate of veterinary medicine from Colorado State University. In my little spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, which is typically enjoying a movie, exploring our new area or enjoying time with our pets. We are owned by an Australian Shepherd- Roo, a Boston Terrier- Zoom, 3 cats- Stinger, Stella and Chewy plus a very boisterous Guinea Pig- Miss Piggy. We are expecting our daughter at the end of September this year. We additionally, attend numerous continuing education meetings for veterinary medicine.
